The Bourne Bus service is now two years old, having started our service when we had to plan for passengers wearing masks at the end of Covid!
From the outset the free bus service has been really popular with local residents from Southbourne, Westbourne, Hambrook and Nutbourne, heading to popular destinations such as Emsworth and Havant Tesco.
We’ve also done lots of research about who travels on the bus too:
- The average age of our passengers is 71 years old
- 70% have some form of disability or access need
- Only one in twenty has their own car to get around
- 90% said the free Bourne Bus meets their needs well
- 95% of passengers use the bus for regular shopping trips
- They also use the bus for medical appointments and social activities
